Back to School Spring Checklist

Classes for the spring semester start Tuesday, January 16.

Note the Add/Drop deadline.

Students may add a course or drop a course online through Wednesday, January 24. The last day for full-time undergraduate day students to drop a course in their Associate Dean's office is Thursday, February 15.

Seniors graduating in May: remember to check your Degree Audit before the add/drop deadline, in case you need to add an additional course to graduate on time.

Undergraduate day students, interested in taking a course at WCAS?

Undergraduate seniors in MCAS, CSOM, LSEHD, or CSON who want to register for a spring 2024 course in the WCAS can do so beginning Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 9 a.m. for a limited number of seats.

On Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 9 a.m., sophomores, juniors, and seniors in MCAS, CSOM, LSEHD, or CSON, as well as WCAS students, will be eligible to register for any unclaimed seat.

First-year students are not eligible to take WCAS courses. All other students are allowed to enroll in just one WCAS course per term. For more information, including restrictions, visit the Undergraduate Registration page.

Review the spring bill due dates.

Spring semester bills for undergraduate and law students were due on December 8. All outstanding charges are now due.

Spring semester bills for graduate and Woods College students are due on January 12.

Declare your housing intent for 2024–2025.

Room selection sign-up will open on January 22. Eligible students must declare their housing intents in the Agora Portal by February 2.

Waive medical insurance (if applicable).

To waive spring medical insurance, go to d89joy0.tuwabuki.com/medinsurance and select the Forms tab. All waivers must be submitted by January 26, 2024 for the spring semester only. Students who do not complete a waiver prior to the deadline will automatically be enrolled in and charged the student-only premium for the student medical insurance plan.

2024–2025 FAFSA Simplification.

The 2024-2025 FAFSA form became available in late December. As a part of the launch of a brand new application, the site will be unavailable periodically for maintenance. We strongly suggest that families wait until later in January/February to attempt completing the FAFSA. 

Due to the passing of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Simplification Act on December 27, 2020, as a part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, the FAFSA is changing for the 2024–2025 aid year.

You can expect the following changes:

• The 2024–2025 FAFSA will not be available until December 2023.
  • The 2024–2025 FAFSA determines your financial aid eligibility for the fall 2024, spring 2025, and summer 2025 terms.
• New terminology will be added to the FAFSA. 
• Eligibility for federal financial aid will be expanded.

Note the returning undergraduate financial aid application deadline.

The priority filing date for the Undergraduate Financial Aid Application is April 1. This date is later than in the past to allow for the new FAFSA launch. 

The Boston College Financial Aid Application will be available in late January. An instructional email will be sent to students when it is ready for completion. You may begin to upload other document requirements now. The FAFSA and BC Financial Aid Application can be submitted later. Returning Undergraduate Financial aid award notifications will be released in late June.

Graduate and Law students, note the start of the 2024–2025 financial aid application process.

Graduate and Law students, the 2024–2025 FAFSA is now available at studentaid.gov.

The 2024–2025 BC Grad and Law Supplemental form and the 2024–2025 Grad Enrollment form is available on our website: tuwabuki.com/gradaid.

Purchase an MBTA pass for the spring semester.

Students may now purchase MBTA passes for the spring semester at a discount. The deadline to purchase passes at a discount is January 10, 2024. Visit the MBTA Passes and Parking Permits page for more information.

Order a parking permit (if applicable).

Eligible undergraduate resident students and graduate students may order a parking permit at d89joy0.tuwabuki.com/myservices ("Parking Permits and Citations") beginning January 4. Students may pick up their fall parking permit in the Office of Student Services from January 8.

Review mandatory meal plan options.

Students on a mandatory meal plan now have the ability to choose to opt up to a premium plan or opt down to the light plan to match their dietary needs. Students have been automatically enrolled in the middle base plan. If this plan is best for you, you do not need to do anything. Those wishing to opt up or down have until January 20 to do so. The ability to select a plan is on the My Services page of the Agora Portal. More information may be found on the dining site.

Looking for your 1098T, 1098E, or W-2s?

• 1098T Forms will be mailed to students' home address by January 31.
• 1098E Tax forms: Borrowers who paid interest during 2023 will be notified by their loan servicing companies of the amount of interest paid. The 1098E form is usually sent in January and may be used when filing 2023 taxes.
• Student employee W-2s will be mailed by January 31.

Looking for a job?

Academic year job opportunities are available on the Job Listings page. For students who have secured an on-campus job for the first time, please be sure to bring forms of identification (such as but not limited to, a valid/unexpired U.S. Passport, or a combination of a valid driver’s license or Eagle ID card and Social Security card or birth certificate) in original formats. No pictures or photocopies will be accepted. A full list of acceptable documents for Form I-9 completion can be found on the USCIS website. International F-1 students will need to bring in their valid Foreign Passport along with their Forms I-94 and I-20 and Employment Authorization Letter from the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS).
